The Central African SME Fund
The ‘Central African SME Fund’ is a Private Equity Fund, investing in non-listedSME) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Central African Republic (CAR).
The Central African Investment Fund is managed by “Extra Small Medium Large” (XSML) and Cenainvest, cornerstone investor is IFC, member of the World Bank Group.
- XSML is an Investment Management Company, based in the Netherlands, investing globally in non-listed Small and Medium Sized Companies (SMEs) in developing countries.
- Cenainvest is a Venture Capital Fund based in Cameroon, the Fund provides financing to entrepreneurs in Central Africa who are engaged in high potential growth business.
- IFC fosters sustainable economic growth in developing countries by financing private sector investment.
A new local fund managing company in the DRC (KingKuba Capital), with an affiliate company in the Central African Republic, will manage the Central African Investment Fund. The local fund management teams in DRC and CAR will source, structure, and monitor the transactions. They will cooperate closely with experienced teams of investment professionals from Cameroon and the Netherlands.
To strengthen the local fund management team, we are looking for experienced Investment Officers (Jr/Sr).
Duties and accountabilities:
- To cover the complete range of investing activities:
- Identify new business opportunities in DRC and CAR;
- Write investment proposals;
- Participate in the structuring and negotiate terms and conditions of investments;
- Monitor the operational and financial performance of portfolio investments;
- Arrange Exits.
- Establish, build and maintain productive relationships with clients, the private business community in DRC and CAR.
- Keep abreast of market developments and business conditions in DRC and CAR, providing local market intelligence and analysis.
Selection Criteria
- MBA or MA in Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Management or other similar relevant experiences.
- Solid track record and more than 5 years experience in the financial sector with a proven track record in developing and executing successful transactions, preferably in the PE fund management business.
- In-depth understanding and knowledge of the Central African business environment and key players.
- Ability to work in teams, deliver high quality work within deadlines, and to meet team objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and develop relationships.
- Fluent in English and French
- Ability to work and live in DRC, or CAR.
